Mortal Kombat X is an excellent adaption of the classic Mortal Kombat game that many adults will remember as one of the most popular and gruesome fighting games in the industry. The original Mortal Kombat completely redefined the stereotypical fighting game, and this game works to bring back that feeling with new challenges and game modes.
Many players will notice right away that this game doesn't include the same variety of characters and fighting moves as the original game, but that is because the game had to be limited in order for it to work as a mobile game. Since that is the case, the creators added several new features to the game that offset the lack of variety in character options and fighting moves. There is now a 3v3 game type, and players can summon other players to fight with them. An option for 1v1 combat is also included so players can challenge their friends to test their skills.
The console version of Mortal Kombat X is a bit different than this mobile version, but there are unlockables that can be acquired in the mobile version and transferred over to the console version. This is meant to help players find a goal in the game while offering an exclusive expansion on the content found in the console version. Since the mobile version has fewer characters, the creators wanted to build a system that would prompt players to return for other reasons. Like most Mortal Kombat games in the past, this mobile game relies mostly on button-mashing and repetitive moves, but that is fairly standard in the genre.
What really makes this mobile game stand out are the graphics. Mobile games rarely have the detail and visual complexity of Mortal Kombat X, and that is because such graphics cause those games to become quite large. This game requires 1.5GB in order to install, and it won't run as it should unless the device has at least 1GB of RAM. This is a fairly large app, and it should only be installed and played if the device has sufficient space.
This game doesn't have the variety that older Mortal Kombat games have come to offer, but it does have a lot to do. Players can challenge their friends directly through the game, which is a nice touch, and the unlockables that constantly give the player a goal are worth the time they take to unlock as well, especially if the player has the console version of Mortal Kombat X. Anyone who is a big fan of the Mortal Kombat series should give this game a chance, although it might require freeing up some space on your mobile device. The intense gameplay and realistic graphics are more than worth the space, however, especially for those who love fatalities and the classic Mortal Kombat fighting system.
